Non-Prophet week is the week where irreligious people raise money and help charities. This will be The AHS’s third Non-Prophet week. We have chosen to endorse Survivors Voice Europe as our suggested charity this year. They are a relatively new charity targeted at helping the victims of abuse (particularly by Catholic clergy) and are still quite small, so the money we raise has the potential to make a huge difference to both the charity and people’s lives.
If you feel you or your members are more enthusiastic about another charity, you are welcome to support them instead… and it doesn’t have to be just raising money. In the past people have planted trees, donated blood and collected clothes to give to a charity shop as alternatives to or alongside fundraising. Be as creative as you want and we will support and help you as much as we can.
We are hoping you’ll be even more creative than last year and show that you don’t have to be religious to be charitable.
Who can take part?
Anyone can take part. If you are part of an AHS society, then this is the perfect time to do something charitable together. If you are not an AHS society or a member of one, you are still welcome to take part, either as an individual or with another group (e.g. local humanist/secular groups or Skeptics in the Pub). For example, the British Humanist Association Choir has taken part in the previous Non-Prophet Weeks.
If you have any questions or would like to take part, please get in touch.
Good luck and have fun!
